Real world procedures with GPS Cross-fill!
The GNS 430 and 530 provide the capability to
cross-fill the active flight plans to the second Garmin
unit, or cross filling stored flight plans and User
waypoints. This can be done automatically or on command.
It also means that when flying beyond a navigation
database boundary a hot switch can be performed in flight
changing from the Americas to International or vice-versa
as required and this provide seamless flying anywhere in
the world!
In all cases, it
permits you to transfer flight plans from any Reality XP
GNS model to any other Reality XP GNS model using the same
Crossfill procedure that is in the real units.
This provides greater flexibility for your flying
because now you can be following the active route and have
one or more scenarios set-up to accommodate anticipated
direct routings, diversions and approaches. When required
a non-navigating unit with the updated flight plan can be
activated and become the primary navigation unit. This
allows you as the pilot to actively plan the flight as
conditions change and this can be done in a timely manner
to minimize tasks during high workload conditions. |
